About Robo Academy
Robo Academy is a new dynamic volunteer programme that provides a platform for robotics enthusiasts to come together. It was founded by Mr Gilbert Heng in 2007, who has a vision for bringing people together with the same passion and interest and contributing their skills and expertise to help the community. It’s a NEW programme focusing on developing Youths in Leadership, Volunteerism and Philanthropy through organizing Outreach events and activities involving the community.
Our vision
Our vision is to develop programmes and resources designed to address the issues of technological and scientific literacy and competency for our current and future generations of children. We want to increase more youth participation in community work and to be a volunteer so that they can be developed holistically.
Most importantly, our vision and directions are totally powered and driven by Youth from
ages 10-18 years old (mainly). This has become Singapore’s first community of practice
initiated by our Singapore youths and partnered by commercial partners.
National Collaboration
Robo Academy has since worked with many educators and robotics enthusiasts on improving educational series designed to enhance a child’s learning through robotics. We embarked into the fusion of Game development and Robotics in 2008 and launched a new programme called Arcadia. We strongly believe that through innovative and creative programmes like robotics and game development, we can develop children in many ways in terms of thinking and in character as how they can benefit from these platforms. Our programmes are designed and crafted based on 3 main platforms:
- Creativity & Innovation Platform
- Community Involvement Platform
- Environmental Awareness Platform
